...wide variety of formats, including QuickTime video files as well as popular non-QuickTime video file formats such as DivX and MPEG-2 files. In addition, Crunch can convert unprotected DVDs and VIDEO_TS folders ...
Meaning that it won't work with Commercial DVDs....
Unless this somehow beats the simplicity of other apps you
might already have that handles far more formats than listed
(Visual Hub, front and center please!) or somehow magically
    converts faster than ffmepgx,
    I don't see it worth being $50.

  2. It would probably worked with Commercial DVDs once they were ripped with MacTheRipper. But you're right, it doesn't appear to be worth the $50. I'd expect them to role this functionality into some later version of Toast, the way they did Popcorn.

yeah, the ol' bait and switch ( get you to buy one product now,
make a boat load of cash, then roll it into the Father product,
and make you look stupid for ever buying the single product).

I wonder how many Popcorn 1 users kicked themselves
after they found out they could have just bought
Toast 7 for $20 more, and gotten everything?

It looks like half of Popcorn 2 for the full price of Popcorn 2. I was expecting the price to be $25 after reading the description.

  5. I don't think this is meant to replace Toast 8 or Popcorn 2 since both already have this feature already. This seems to be for people or don't have either. I've heard it will be cross platform for Mac and PC.

$50 is high, but like most Roxio products will probably be rebated a lot.
