My Panasonic DMR-ES10EB DVD recorder gives the message "NO READ" whatever disc is loaded. Any ideas on how to resolve this, please?

Thanks for reply. A head cleaner disc will not work either. I've tried directly cleaning the len (is there more than one?) but this made now difference.
I don't have a VCD to try in the machine _ I only have DVDs, either commercial products or home produced. -
Search for a post by SaintBaz "Fixing your panny [when] lens cleaning doesn't help"
It's on forum.cdfreaks.com
It involves cleaning the spindle, "the little round platter inside your machine that your disc sits on"
You need to open up your machine (again)
Good luck!
(BTW, do you get the message "NO READ" even if you insert no disc?) -
Thanks. I'll have a look at that post. And no, the message only appears when a disc is in the tray - otherwise I get the normal "No disc" message.

Unfortunately the advise from SaintBaz did not solve the problem. Any ideas, anyone please.
