basically I'm looking for a good way to do guitar hero. THere isn't a really good pc clone out yet. I've tried frets-on-fire and pc guitar hero but they don't make the guitar sound that the ps2 game does. Sure they have the buttons but you don't get the sound the same way the real game did.

Basically what I'm looking for is a decent emulator that will let me use the retail disc and the guitar controller - through a usb adapter - on a pc.

I have looked and seen used ps2's on ebays but the cheapest working ones start at 50.00 with buy it now and those are with twenty and thirty dollar shipping costs. I did try ebgames but a nonslim ps2 goes for 90.00 and thats a lot more than I want to spend for one game.

I also saw that guitar hero 3 will be out for the wii but no release date yet. I was thinking if I could buy guitar hero used and get the adapter I'd like to play it on the pc. Is this feasible yet??

I have a celeron 2.66ghz on my emachine and an amd 64 2.4ghz on my hp vista pc. Are these strong enough to run a ps2 emulator reliably?

I did see the "vgsplayer1.3" emulator that is supposed to play the game disc through a imitation window. Has anyone tried this???

    EDIT - http://www.rewiredmind.com/sony/playstation2/

In fact, they’ve confirmed that Guitar Hero 3 will be released this autumn, for Xbox 360, PS2, PS3 and Nintendo’s Wii console. No more information is available as yet,

I knew it was coming for the WII I just couldn't find a date yet. I can wait till the fall That's only a few months depending on what they mean by autumn - if thats august or september great - if its november thats even longer

But I'd still be interested in ps2 emulators

thats the best one out for now.. it actually is pretty good as EMUs go. give that a shot.. its not perfect but it might do the trick.

Im not 100% sure about it letting you play the game off teh disk.. but you could google it and dump the rom.

    good luck
