  1. There's about 600gb of Roms/isos that I wanna play on emulators (Sega CD, Sega Saturn, and PSX mostly). If I put these games on a big external USB hard drive, will it affect the speed at which these games play?

Will it be as fast as if it were on my normal Hard Drive?

I haven't tried the PSX emus, but I get full speed on all the other ones on a USB2 drive. I've used just about all of them, from Nester to KGen to MAME and all between. The only ones I haven't tried are the "Next Gen" ones, like PS2, Gamecube, etc.

Will USB affect the speed: Likely.

    Will you notice it: Maybe.

It depends on the quality of the external drive's interface board. If you have a crappy enclosure, it will likely fail. Quality stuff, likely not.

Will it be as fast as your internal hard drive: I kinda doubt it - but you still may never notice it during play.

It may depend on the emu. Some have to be installed whereas some are stand-alone.
I run SNES, Genesis, TG-16, and NES emulators at work from a thumb drive with no problems.

PSX and PS2 emulators most likely will not work well on your USB drive...
