I have to create a slideshow for a party. I've done it before but I just played music separately while pictures flashed on the screen, and it was a smaller screen. I want the pictures to be clear on a big screen. I don't have the dimensions of the screen but picture a wedding with approximately 300 guests.

I have a program that I am using (Wondershare DVD slideshow builder). Should I choose DVD or SVCD for the output? When I choose DVD, it asks me for the layout dimensions (height/width). What should those be?

I scanned 4x6 photos @ 300 dpi. I plan to add music, transitions, and text onto the photos.

Any suggestions for a different program to accomplish this task?

I appreciate any assistance anyone can offer. Thanks.

MS Photo Story 3 - export at highest possible quality, encode to DVD specs mpg, author as DVD.
MS Movie Maker is also capable of creating what you want - Export as DV, then encode to DVD specs mpg, author as DVD.

Or ProShow or other slide show app.

DVD will give you higher resolution than SVCD, and allows for a higher bitrate for better quality. If you decide to go down the PhotoStory route, make sure you get Papa John's templates for DVD output. The quality difference is worth it.

Wondershare can't be much of a DVD product if it doesn't know the dimensions of DVD compliant output.

Of course, if you aren't limited to playback via DVD then you can encode to much higher resolutions.
