    Hey all,

New to list. I just tried the Phillips DVD RF Modulator wth my SV2000 on my 1995 Maganavox Coaxile Mono only tv with bad results. Video was fine, but Audio through the avs on the modulator was terrible. Very low and distored with scratchyness on the s's. I tried my 15 year old Archer Video Modulation Unit. Sound much better. About what it should be. Just trouble with the video on CH69 (Aux2) for the AVs. Couldn't get it to come in great. So now I'm thinking Radioshack for a modulator. They have a few. Here's one http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103097&cp=&sr=1&origkw=rf+modul...entPage=search

Here's the one for all of what they have. What's the difference between them all?

I'm thinking the Stereo one because the dvd is stereo/dobly digital. But the tv isn't stereo.

Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks very much,

Just a guess, as I haven't tried any of them. The first one and the second one are probably the same thing, as far as the modulator goes. The second one just has more inputs for more than one device. The third 'Monster' one appears to accept S-video input. But unless you have a S-video output, probably not much good.

I would ask them if you can bring it back if it doesn't work the way you want. Also keep your cables short to avoid interference.

With some RS items, there is a downloadable manual or spec sheet which may give you more information.

The 'noise' you are getting on the audio may also just be a mismatch between your output device and your modulator. If the level is too high or the impedance is badly mismatched, you can get distortion. But more likely in your case is it's just a crappy product.

    And welcome to our forums.
