Hi! after reading some posts about this beauty I want to get one!, I really need to know where to buy one. I already visited eCost and even tho its at $59.99 right now these guys treat Puerto Rico as international, (eve tho i order from tiger direct, new egg without any problems). So if anyone knows where to get one new please help.

My main reasons are to offer VHS to DVD transfer services to my costumers and also to record from Sattelite TV. If you think there is a better recorder with great quality please advise.

    thanks!

They are rare but excellent DVD Recorder But had Loading Bud that was fixed. I originally brought mine for about 400.00. I will buy 2 more at Ecost at that price. Just for back up purpose. Also notice the one at Ecost are Recertified.

Marvingj I noticed in your info you have JVC and Toshiba DVDR's do you really think that JVC's offer the best vcr>dvd conversion. I still am hard pushed to believe they really are worth getting due to the reported faults, is there much difference?

StuR, My opinion only the JVC has more vivid colors & Better contrast than Toshiba. But Toshiba has a sharper picture & more clarity. For VHS, SVHS to DVD ( JVC)...For DVD, LaserDisc (Toshiba). For Hi8, MiniDVD I choose (Pioneer) it is also great. Can't lose with either of the three.

Thanks for your thoughts, it's vhs>DVD that's the problem, finding little shinny detail noise using Sony GX300 (120m and 90m). Mainly considering the advantages JVC offers in the 1/2 frame DVD capture mode, even though most programs 1hr or less. Could us Sony at 1hr/disk but I think unnecessary. Hard to end with the Sony due to it's perfect connectivity (svideo+scart in/out) and great easy to use interface.
Must mention other JVC (HD models) feature 'bitrate optomiser' which uses a prostyle dual scan encoder with HD>DVD copies. This should increase the VBR range for better bitrate economy. But does it work ? Have you or anyone used this feature and seen an improvement over direct >DVD capture?

May's well add this pic of the JVC DVDR's 2006 (including DRM100)

The DR-M100S did not have a "loading" issue, as it is a second-generation unit. That was confined to the first-generation machines, like the DRM10S and DRMH30. The "loading" issue was caused by power supply issues in a limited number of units, and the second-gen units are not designed the same.

Ecost.com is indeed the only place to get them that I am aware of. I have heard of a few units arriving DOA, but it appears to be poor packaging on the part of ecost (unit rattles too much in shipment, and the burner inside is damaged), but an RMA has solved those cases.

  8. Just to clarify, yes, there have been loading issues with the JVC DR-M100, though not to the extent of the earlier "bug" that lordsmurf explains. Many machines are likely fine. But I had a loading error with mine after very little use, and I believe a few others on this forum have as well.

You can read a thread about this at:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=321812
That thread also has links to earlier threads about the DRM100 loading issue.

All machines have occasional problems though. The DRM100 is a good machine, otherwise, and you should go for it.
