This came up on another thread so I decided to do some testing.

ATI AIW 2006 Edition, MMC 9.12. Three documentaries and one movie (Ed_DV will like this, the movie was Alien Planet). 3:2 pulldown removal with 16:9 aspect capture. Editing done with MPG2Cut.

Either the telecine pattern is consistent throughout the show and commercials, or the IVTC in MMC 9.12 is adapting very well to changes in pattern. No problems, clean, nearly undetectable cuts, no audio synch issues. Magnificent.

I never tried MPG2Cut with MMC previous to 9.03, and had not tried to cut commercials within an IVTC'd clip with ANY software on any MMC 9.x until 9.12. If you have any previous experience with this issue, you will understand why, otherwise, take my word for it, this simply was not possible. Trimming front and rear was the best you could do, with several issues to deal with.

Previous to MMC 9.x the IVTC'd framerate was always 24.1x(variable), never exactly 23.976. With MMC 9.03, this changed to a rock-solid, unchanging 23.976. MMC 9.12 is the first I have used with the new encoder engine.

So I do not know if the editing was made possible by changes in MMC 9.x, the new encoder engine in MMC 9.12, or the use of a different editor, MPG2Cut. Don't really care, it works now with what I am using. Whoppee!!
