  1. I'm trying to get more speed and looking for a PC under $600. The Gateway GT5428 has an Intel Pentium D Processor 935 (Dual Core) with Intel EM64T 64-bit Technology with each core running at 3.2GHz on an 800MHz FSB and 2x 2MB of L2 Cache. Does this mean it has two 64 bit processors?

Now I have a 2.6 GHz PC and it is too slow for video compressing. Will the above be much faster?

Here is a link to the specs:

    Please adivse. Thank you.

The encoding speeds are pretty average:

I'd encourage you to look for a machine with an Intel E4300 chip (or better) if you want entry level Dual Core processing and you're on a budget. You might as well be satisfied with your purchase. With h264 encoding, you need a bit of CPU strength.

The Core2Duo line will run with less power and heat yet run most apps faster.

The Pentium D 935 (Dual Core) is among the last of the extreme clockers.
