  1. MacPro Intel 2.0Ghz
    nVida Video Card
    ATI Video Card

How can one add a second video card (to add a third monitor) to a MacPro? I want to output DVI from my ATI card into my HDTV (HDMI). The Mac doesn't output any signal from my second PCIe card.

What am I doing wrong? How do I set this up so I can edit in Final Cut Pro with two monitors and have my ATI output my HD video to my HDTV?

    Thanks

  3. I've read about this device. So is this a 'no,' two PCIe video cards will not work on my MacPro?

  4. Two video cards will work. The only options for the second card are those offered by Apple. Currently there are no third party solutions. You'll want an Apple approved (firmware) card anyway for Final Cut suite 2 which now hands off a lot of its chores to the graphics card.

  5. I just purchase Final Cut Studio 1 about a month and a half ago. I hate that FCS2 is out for another $500 upgrade!! IT'S THE SAME PRICE AS FCS1 when it came out!!

Anyways ... Well, I guess I could buy another nVidia Card from either Apple or NewEgg to go with my Mac and see if it works. Right now I have two additional ATI cards, an x850GT and an x300 (which is just a basic two monitor card for a "student" computer. My guess is that the new Macs only support the X1900.

I'll double check to see if there are drivers for the x850GT. I kind of figured I needed drivers just to get the card to output. The Expansion Slot program comes up and says my nVidia is running at x16 and I should put my ATI card on the top slot because it's an x8 (the fastest x ) I'm a little new to the Mac hardware world, but I've used a Mac for the last 3 years, so I'm somewhat knowledgeable.

  6. Check with Apple on the FCS2 pricing. Since your purchase was recent, you might be able to gt a cheaper upgrade price.

  7. I will call Apple today.

About the Video Cards. Should I purchase this Card (its the same one as mine when I got my Mac)

A comment said that the only reason to get this card is to add more monitors. Am I on the right track?

All I want is this card to export to a HDTV.
