guys new to the group, purchased a toshiba D-R4 recorder about one month ago. Have not had any problems with till yesterday. I was copying a vhs to dvd and got an alert message. tried it again today and the same thing happened. Tried to copy a tape which I already copied once using this recorder and got the alert again. Any suggestions what could be wrong. Hope you can help out.

what is the message?

Thanks for the reply, the only thing it says is alert. now the manual says that when you try to copy something that is protected you will get that message. when I do make a backup copy of a protected video I use a color corrector to take out the macrovison. This has worked fine in the past with makeing copies of vhs & even dvd's. I guess I'm sorta lost to try to figure out what to do next.
Thanks again.

this is a common problem even on some non macro'd tapes ... i dont remember the solution other than using a TBC ... but several threads here on that very subject
