    Hello guys,

    I've got a little problem.

When i'm watching a movie(doesn't matter if it's a dvd or avi or mkv) my monitor shuts off after a few minutes. When using Powerdvd, i can only watch 1 minute or less, and my monitor shuts off. I cannot turn my monitor on, even when i plug a new monitor on, it still is black.. Everything else runs fine, sound, programs, only i can't see a thing..

    I tried this:
Powermanagment is set on always on..
    Newest videodrivers
    Newest codecs
    No overheating problem

I think the problem lies within the videocard + software stuff. But i don't know exactly where to start..

    tnx for the help..

I could be wrong but this sounds like an overheating problem to me.

If your videocard has a cooling fan on it make sure it's still working and alos check any case fans are working. Might also me worth cleaning any dust out while you are in there.

I'm assuming that on the desktop there is no problem it's only when showing video - which suggests your videocard is doing the decoding whihc in turn suggest (to me) a possible overheating problem.

Other obvious things to try is using the monitor on another computer (eliminate the monitor as the source of the problem) and try a different monitor on your computer.

Depending on when the new drivers were installed it could be worth rolling back to the previous versions and see if that makes any different.

i've connected my monitor to another pc, but no problem. If i plug another mon to my pc. It does the same wacky thing.. And it's no overheating prob, i've got my programs checking. There all at 36 degrees when running movie.. The fans are running. I'm testing older drivers now.. So i'll be posting the results later..

  5. Try to reinstall the latest DirectX or try to reduce the Hardware acceleration to see if it's help
