Unlikely ... you can open the VIDEO_TS.IFO of the dvd using ifoedit ... then in top screen click on VMGM_MAT ... in lower screen scroll to 'PROVIDER ID' and see if anything is listed as some tools do list themselves as the provider however this is very rare and the PROVIDER ID will most likely be blank but you may just get lucky

  3. If the original tool used to author was a prosumer app with an abstraction layer you could find out. But you would need to know in advanced what the abstraction layer looked like. DVDSP titles are easy to spot - for example, each VTSM has 5 PGC in them, if there is use or not. In addition, it uses GPRMs 1 to 8 in the AL.

PGCEdit or any othere re-authoring tool can open the TS folder so you can take a look.

Other than looking at the abstraction layer, I'd like to hear other's info on this.

For pro DVD read the credits for DVD authoring house then reasearch what that house uses. Often they will just tell you what was used if you call them with an intellegent question*.

Major DVD releases have detailed production description articles in the trade mags. Get access to Nexis/Lexis to find these articles and press releases.

    * many applications were probably used to prepare and author that DVD. Make your question very specific.
