    Hi all,

I'm using Power DVD v4 to do some screencaps of a title sequence from a DVD.

Oddly, the screencaps from the video portion of the title sequence are fine, but when I try to do the same from the animated portion, they're blurred, jagged, and show interlace lines... Similarly, when I view the title sequence on my PC the animated portion looks blurry, but when I view the same sequence on a regular TV, I don't see these artifacts.

Any explanation for this and is there a way I can get clean screen captures?

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Because those portions of the video are interlaced? TVs display one field at a time so you don't see interlace comb artifacts there.

    Hmm, possibly.

But then why would one part of the title sequence not show interlace lines? I mean, it's all part of the same sequence...

At least it appears to be. *scratches head*

If what you say is true, then I have to de-interlace that portion of the video before trying to do a screencap.... Hmm.

  4. It's not unusual for video to switch between progressive and interlaced. Especially in title sequences which are pieced together from different bits.

That seems to be the case:

I extracted the MPEG2 from the VOB file, then ran it through TMPGEnc's De-interlace filter and Voila! No more interlace lines...

Now I can get my screencaps.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. *thumbsup*
