Hello all,
I'm pretty new to DVD authoring and need some advice on creating a music video DVD.
I want the DVD to display a menu when loaded into a player, as normal, and give the following options:
1. Play all the videos one after another
2. Select any video from a menu, sort of like chapters
Optional (but not required)
3. Play the videos randomly
Currently each music video is a item/video.
Do I have to make one long video with all the videos I want on the DVD? I certainly hope not because I want to keep all my videos separate so that I can make the compilations I want.
I currently use DVD-lab Pro for authoring DVD's and know how to make simple DVD's with 2 or more episodes of video, although you have to select each one from the menu because that is where the link at the end of the movie goes to.
I don't know how to make them play consecutively, one after another, from start to finish.
Any advice/help on this is greatly appreciated,
Cheers,

All you have to do is add a "play all" list & a "Random Play" list....
I've done it many times in DLP....
They can all be added from the little buttons right under the "connections" window....
& then set up... the "Help" file in DLP has a lot of info also, pretty much everything DLP does & how to do it 8) -
Hello all,
Thanx for the info, but could you elaborate a little more about the process.
For example, do I have to add each video as a separate movie? ie. Movie 1, Movie 2, etc.
If you've done this type of thing before, could you give/send me an example project of what you did? Obviously without the videos as it would be a very large file, but the project layout would be nice. Or even a tutorial on how to do this would be good also.
Thanx for now,

If the videos are already separate, work with that. If they are one clip, you can use chapter playlists to do what you want.
Most of this is pretty straight forward. With the hints you have been given you should be able to find most of what you need in the help file that ships with DLP.
If, after that, you have specific questions, post them here for answers. But honestly, what you have described is pretty bread and butter for DLP.Read my blog here.

Hello all,
I'm pretty sure it's all "bread and butter for DLP" as that is what it is designed to do, create DVD's, right.
I don't know how to create this type of DVD and that's the reason for asking for assistance/guidance from others who've done this sort of thing before.
Now, if the replies that a person gets to a question is to read the "Help" file, then what exactly is the purpose of having a forum in the first place.
If everyone could understand the "Help" file, nobody would ever need to ask anyone else for assistance or there wouldn't be any need for people creating tutorials on the stuff because everybody would already "KNOW" everything, right?
Now, looking over the "Help" file, I can't find anything on how the layout of the DVD should be to have muliple videos and how to create the links between them as I stated earlier.
Plenty of info on fancy menus, though!!!
Thanx,

http://mediachance.com/dvdlab/tutorial/video_basic.html will show you how to set up a basic DVD. However if you know how to make a multi-episode DVD, then it is only a few extra steps to do what you want.
Adding multiple movies is the same as adding one movie.
You can link them in the connections window, or by adding buttons the menu. In your case, you want to have links to each movie, plus a 'Play All'. So create buttons for each clip, then add a Playlist object in the connections window. Double-click this to open it, and add all your clips to it. Create a Play All button that links to the playlist.
You can also add a Random List in the same way to get random playback.
If you seriously want to understand what is happening, you will have to read the Help Files. It covers playlists and random lists. You need to read it to understand how they function.Read my blog here.

Hello all,
Thanx for the info, I had no idea that DVD-lab, or any DVD authoring application for that matter, even had a "Play List" or "Random List" object. Now that I know what I should look for, maybe I can figure out what the "Help" file has to say about how to use them.
Thanx again,
Cheers,
