Interesting that this burner is giving me more problems, last month it had trouble writing, now its having trouble reading. It actually failed a burn. Tried variety of discs to read, but no go. Already ordered another drive. Here's the failed burn log files in case you can find something amiss. Thanks

1: Check fo updated firmware for unit .
2: Slow the burn DOWN to something more acceptable , 4x or even 8x , not 18x , that will turn up issues .
3: Power calibration error , a possible issue with psu (400watt or better) .

4: Depends on media brand , and how much work the drive has done till now .

Give it a clean if disc reading error .
Check cables are still firmly connected to unit .
Defrag hard drive if you do this frequently .
Close all non-essential programs before burn process starts .
Do not use the computer during the burn phase .
Try using same brand you have had success with .

Ps : Liteons were not that great , consider lg unit instead , less picky than others .
: Give imgburn a crack at burning the disc instead of nero .

ok thanks, will check those things. As far as the PSU, I have been thinking of moving all to a Coolmaster box w/650W, so I just may do that today, especially with another added 250gb hd.

    I ordered a Samsung 182.

    Thanks again,

    Gerry

Well, nothing seems to be working at all. Already upgraded the Wattage, just threw everything in a new Cooler Master box with 650W, probably running cooler. Bought a disc cleaner, but the drive wont even read it. The light comes on, but thats about it, I can hear the disc spinning, spins up then spins down, but doesnt "connect". I spent some time with Lite-on tech support thru Chat, which he suggested I uninstall the drivers and re-install Nero, which I did, but to no avail, still same thing.

I installed Lite-on's Booktype utility and SmartBurn utility, and ran both of them, the results are the following included images. Not sure what to do now, just wait for the new burner to arrive on Wed.

Anyone know of a way or a utility to run, to see if it is dead?

    Thanks,

    Gerry
