Okay, I'm burning coasters. There is absolutely no sound when I play the resluting mpg on my computer or standalone dvd player after burned. Sometimes there is no sound on my computer, but after burning it worked on my dvd player, not this time though. The major difference here is this is a DVD rip, not a vhs capture. I folllowed Sefy's guide to the T. I've tried searching, but there I seem to be the only one in the world (Story Of My Life) with this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I recommend steel toe boots. Hurts too much with regular shoes. Be sure to wear safety goggles too when you kick the monitor. :P

Seriously, I am not sure what is going on. I could say check the obvious: connections, settings, valume, speaker batteries (if you have them). DVD rips are generally easier than captures in my experience. Perhaps it was a DTS dvd?

What do you mean by DTS? Digital? This is the first time I have ever ripped so I am new. Thanks.

God, I don't know...... Is there an easy way to find out? On the disc or box it just says Dolby Digital, maybe it was a setting in Smartripper, no? The audio track was track 2 so I checked that, but I left everything else defaul.

  6. Did you remember to set the audio file in TMPGenc?

  8. I had the same problem with a Divx file before. Sound disappears after encoding to mpeg with tmpgenc. I don't know if this applies to you... you might want to try this before you bring your steel-toed boots to your screen:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm

Go to the bottom where it says "To improve the audio quality". I had to extract the audio to a WAV file and used that as my audio source. Then I used toolame as an external audio encoder. Hope this helps.

  11. Where do you set audio in TMPGenc? Right there on the front screen:

    Audio source

The problem might be that you need a 44.1 KHz instead of a 48 KHz file, or maybe it's the other way around. Or maybe you didn't save it as 16 bit?
