Mute stereo channel

I got home stereos connected to my computer. Second channel of stereos can be mute for days and even weeks, but sometimes it suddenly starts to work. My question is that; is there any program that can try to "open" that second channel, when it's mute?

Second channel is mute also when listening radio or cd. I also changed speakers channel place and then another speaker went mute, so problem is not in speaker. (both speakers are mute in that second channel). I think i just have to buy new stereos or receiver...
