I use ConvertxtoDvd to convert Xvid avi files to Dvd. I use dvd-r media, I make sure the video settings are set to NTSC. I have no issues playing the files on my system but when I give them away to my friend they always get a no disc error. They have a Sony and JVC. Its seem to happen a lot especially on the Telesync files.

I looked it to bitsetting and reripping the Dvd's. Someone said there may be a region code still on the Dvd files. I used RipItforMe to attempt a recode but the dvd just now came up with the Video Ts Menu on my TV. I was able to still play it in my etec dvd player. But i wasn't able to play it on another dvd player that i use to check files.

Is there any there anything I can do to resolve this issue

What brand of DVD media are you using? Some brands with some burners and some players are problematic. It's easy enough to try some different brands and see if that makes a difference. Most any ripping program removes region codes, so that's not likely the problem.

    And welcome to our forums.

Older SONY players are the only compatibility problems I have experienced. I use any available media, bitset when I use +R.

I decided that they aren;t worth my effort. Bought my son-in-law who has one of these a new Samsung for very short money.

  5. Burned DVDs are a funny animal. I have burned several DVD-Rs on Taiyo Yuden media that functioned correctly on several diff DVD standalone players, were checked with DVDInfo & found without errors, BUT in 2 identical Samsung DVD/VCR players, one would play it, & the other would show stuttering, skips, etc.

One of the players would even play the movie w/o problems 1 day, & the next, not even START ! Go figure !

In short, there is NO WAY to guarantee playback on any recorder before the fact. You can only practice best methods, & hope.
