And someone (in the Sunday ads) almost always seems to have Verbatim for $12.99 per 50...And do you really want to save a great big eight cents a disk that badly???

I swore i would never buy those sonce they came out... way to cheap & new unknown name

A friend of my son bought some a few week's ago and i checked them....
then they were on sale this week so i thought i'd waste $10 on a pack of +R's...

Here are some screen shot's of the info as reported and a couple of scan's after being burned by diff. software.

Nero state's the manufacturer as "Verbatim" ?

These are scan's after being burned with NERO 6.6.0.14

Here is a scan after being burned with ImgBurn 2.2.0.0

Nero seemed to burn them better & they are not the best scans i have ever had but after being burned with nero they gave acceptable scan's, although that does not alway's mean a lot & is not 100%.

I used a few so far to back up some TV show's and watched them nd they all played fine but i don't think i would trust them to backup anything i don't want to lose or original material for any length of time.

Which it changed as soon as i posted this again

Well as soon as the forum photo upload is fixed or i find out what is wrong i'll post all the screenshots...

    NERO
Is reporting them as manufactured by "Verbatim" with the code MCC 004
DVDInfoPro is giving the same media code.

You have spaces in your image names. The Internet doesn't like spaces.

They may very well have the Verbatim media code, probably B grade Verbs though, but Dynex has been known to have Ritek and CMC media codes as as well. From package to package, store to store, you never know what you're going to get.

At least with TY (8X premium TY DVD+R, my preference) and Verbatim, you know that you're getting premium, high quality media. To me, it's just not worth buying suspect crap just to save 10 cents per disc.

From the couple scans you've posted it seems that you're using an NEC 3520 for the scanning, not regarded as a good scanning drive, although I'm not a huge believer in quality scans anyway. The NEC 3520 is an excellent burner though, I have one myself.

Yep... i pretty much stated all that... that they played fine although i would never use them for important or one of a kind long term BU.. & that scan's are not 100%.. ect ect.
The batch my son's friend bought was -R & they had the same media code...

I never even thought i'd ever buy Dynex anything but i was bored and thought i'd give them a shot for $10

The Dynex discs with the MCC codes are not true MCC media as they are made in Hong Kong IIRC. I'd skip those. The other Dynex 16x DVD+R made in Taiwan are decent though, as they're genuine Ricoh media made by Ritek. The cakeboxes and packaging are totally different between the two types of discs so it shouldn't be hard to distinguish them.

After I posted yesterday I checked the DVD Media list and it said MCC 004 but these are made in China and aren't as good as MIT Verbatim.

The QS on one I used was 91 but the PIF number was much higher than obtained with MIT Verbatim.
