    I am having trouble with windows movie maker. When i put some images and videos together with some music and go to preview it....the audio plays but not the video. I have also had some problems with windows media player not playing some files..I have been told to install codec replacements but i have tried and this has not worked. Any suggestions ?

    What are the picture and video file types that won't play? If you are not sure exactly what they are, check them with GSpot.

    they are just AVI and MPEG that have worked before.....its just in the last couple of months it hasn't worked

    avi is a container, not a file type. mpeg has many forms 1,2,3,4 divx, 3ivx.

    Gspot is free in the tools section. See if it can "render" the file successfully and read the log to see what codecs it's using.

    You can easily have too many codecs in Windows.
