Hey all,
This isn't really a technical question but more of a general question. I asked my friend the other day if I could borrow one of his Star Trek boxsets and he was a bit hesitant (he's a big Trekker, 'nough said). He told me that he uploaded the entire first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation boxset onto his computer and was willing to burn the entire season onto one DVD for me. I immediately inquired about the quality and he says he will be using this program that has good quality compression (not sure what it is called). I was just wondering if maybe some experts here could tell me what kind of quality I will be looking at here. If there are 20 episodes or so on a single DVD, I can't imagine the quality being that great. If anyone could give me some more information on this, that would be great. Thank you very much!

Even if they were converted to Xvid avi, the quality would be average at best. Perhaps with x264 they would be acceptable. If he is offering you a DVD, playable in a standard DVD player, with that many episodes on it, expect it to be well below VHS standard.
