You see i got this dvd and there is an extra to watch the film in high definition which are playable only on PC I cant play it through the Inter Actual player because it tells me I need windows media player 9 or higher and there is an option to install it. But the thing is that i have that player and when i try to install it says that i already have and dont have any need but yet i still cant play the movie. WI found the files inside the dvd and they are 7 seperate .wmv files each 1 GB. When i look at the properties at the files there is a license section and it says it's a protected content. When i try to play them seperately with media player a windows comes out saying "aquiring license" and right after that another warning pops up from inter actual player saying that if im not from the united stated or canada i cant play these files. Which im not. The dvd was sent to me as a gift. I also tryed opening it in Virtual Dub and an error comes out "ASF Files are not supported. Any ideas of what should I do?
P.S. Is it possible to shrink those files?...

No. You have to get the license key, to remove the DRM. If the movie company decided to lock HD playback to US & Canada, then that's the way it is. Unless, of course, you can fool the system into believing you're in US or Canada.
Virtualdub can't open DRM "protected" wmv (even if some later versions of Virtualdubmod (or is it VirtualdubMpeg2?) can load unprotected wmv.

I red somewhere that older versions of virtual dub might help me. Well I found one but i still couldnt open those files...So is this a dead end?

Old versions of VirtualDub could read WMV files but cannot decrypt protected content. That's a dead end for you.

Yes. You can't do anything with any tool, until you have that license key, that in turn can be used (with fairuse4wm) to remove the DRM. You're correct that some early VDub versions did wmv, but there's also a new version that does wmv too - VirtualDubmpeg2, I see, when I look in the TOOLS section. But again - Until you manage to get that license key - nothing can be done.

That's the thing: You're not supposed to! Only suggestion I can think of, is to go to US or Canada, find an Internet connection, and get that license key by playing the movie.
Again: obviously, those releasing this DVD for some reason decided to limit the HD version to US/Canada residents. Not something you can do anything about, unless you know of some way to make your Internet connection to look like it's in US/Canada.

Would a US proxy server help?
He's a liar and a murderer, and I say that with all due respect. -
Good question but im not very knowledgable about this? Anyone to say something about the comment above?

A google search for 'circumventor' should turn up a list of US proxy servers that you can try. It's worth a try anyways.
