hi, just testing out vegas7, and have a few questions.
1. If I'm cropping a video, and then want to save it, is there an option where all the properties of the original are used automatically for saving the output, instead of the templates it loads up(and would that speed up the render)?
2. How can i cover something over just one part of the video, like say a black square over face and it moves with the face etc... or even just covering a static area?
3. is there any direct-stream copying equivalent like in vdub?
thankyou in advance.

If you change the image at all, the whole thing will be re-encoded. If the source is DV then untouched sections will be left untouched, but other formats, such as mpeg-2, will be re-encoded regardless.
Track motion and keyframes will allow you to cover a section of video and then move the effect or black square around to track a subject.Read my blog here.

thanks.
ok, so theres no direct-stream copying, but im sure i remember a feature that automatically loads the vid and audio properties of the original, so it renders the same settings for the export.
Am i wrong? -
Versions 6 and 7 (and previous versions, if memory serves) remember the last render settings used, so if you only work with program stream output and it is the same format each time, it will never change. I usually render to elementary streams if the target is ultimately DVD, so I am always changing them anyway. If you always output DV, then they will remain constant.
