Compaq C509NR Help

Can anyone tell me if they cam across an owner's manual for this Compaq laptop? You can go on their site but no owner's manual.

Also--This laptop has built-in wifi--I don't have cable or dsl available to me, so dial-up is all I have right now and it seems all the routers need dsl or cable to run--but I would like to make my laptop secure for use at hot spot (library), etc. What do I need to do? I've searched the web but all answers seem to include the router (which I have but without the cable or dsl won't work--D-link 521 wireless)--so if anyone can help me with the Owner's manual and possibly changing the passwords etc, or know of a way to hook up the D-link 521 for a local wireless network I would appreciate it.
