Because of this I m not able to play my video as well as surf on monitor which I was able to do in windows xp . this problem is because vista does not support "overlay" is there any allternative to do this?

Probably a drivers issue. Are you using latest ati drivers?

Or maybe they have changed how it works in vista compared to windows xp.

At least your card is supported. I have to retire my ATI AIW 9000 as there are no drivers for it

I have an Nvidia 6600 GT that has component TV-out.

In Win XP Media Center Edition 2005, I had it output in 1080i. This did DVD upscaling and all that... everything looked beautiful.

Now in Vista, I can't even play videos on 1080i. They're just choppy. I set my TV to 1280x720 (720p) and had some success... but it's still disappointing that 1080i worked great in XP but now won't in Vista.

I'm removing Vista tonight and going back to XP MCE 2005. Then I'm going to burn the DVD (as in set my Vista DVD aflame... not make a copy)

Vista is garbage. Me hates it.
