I have a question on Epson R220 carts.
My old Epson Photo Stylus 900's had half the ink left in them when they registered empty. I know Epson was sued, etc.
Now, I'm using the R220's, and am wondering if half the ink is still left in the cart when it says empty or did Epson fix that?
If they are still half full, I was thinking of resetting the carts with my resetting tool and using them until they stop printing. Am I out of line in my thinking?
I tried to open one up, but it was too messy.

Also, are the chips all the same - interchangeable for different color carts? Is the black chip the same as the cyan chip?
Is there a good source for resettable chips? Chips that can be reset with software. Is there such a thing?
Are genuine Epson chips the best for resetting? -
When the R200 was first introduced, there was a lot of chatter on this board about it. Some one posted a cartridge chip reset utility, but it did no good for me. I deleted it, but you might be able to find it out there. I am on my 5th set of third party carts and have had no problems with them at all. An OEM set costs $70 vs. $12 for refills. I don't really see a need to try to squeeze the last drop of ink out at that cost.

Thanks. I'm more curious than anything. I buy generic carts. They are cheap and work fine. I just like to play with computer stuff and figure out how it all works.
I downloaded the SSC Service Utility, but have not heard anything good about it and have not executed the file as yet. I'm very cautious about downloading onto my machines. The SSC Service Utility is an executable program out of Russia. -
If there is a lot of sloshing when you shake the cart, then it might be a good idea to reset. The ink freeze option in SSC did not work for me, nor (of course) did the reset - Epson fixed it so that does not work.
I ended up buying a Canon ip5300 with a CIS system and have never looked back - the Epson R210 I bought is gathering dust and I swear I will never buy from them ever again - the amount of ink they waste; and they can't even be properly used just to print black.
I'm now paying 98% less for better prints at 4x the speed, thanks to the CIS and how Canon allows the ink monitoring to be turned off. - end rant -
BTW I have removed your formal warning, videobread, and closed your previously moved post, but please read the rules in future..
