I've been using DVD Shrink version 3.1 for as long as I can remember. For the last month though, the program has worked incredibly slowly. Not so much the reading & writing of the DVDs ... just the actual functioning of the program. For example, simply opening the program now takes a good minute. Once open, if I click "open files," it will take a good minute before the browser folder will appear. Previewing video files takes an eternity now. This is the only program that I am having this problem with. I tried re-installing the program, but I still have the same problem. Anybody have any ideas? Thank you!

One thing that can cause this behavior is DVD Shrink is waiting for a drive to become ready.

Check that your drive hasn't slipped back to PIO mode, as this will make ripping and burning incredibly slow. Right-click My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager. Expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers branch. Double-click on the Primary Controller, then click on the Advanced ab. Check the Transfer mode on both devices is DMA. Repeat for the Secondary Controller. If either has devices in PIO mode, uninstall the controller, then reboot windows to reinstall.
