I have a LG RH177, My problem is I can't stop the timeshift from starting up, I can stop it but it starts up again, I can record ok and watch a movie I have asked LG on there wem site and this what they said

Thank you for your email. The timeshift should not start automatically in the way you describe, the unit may have developed a fault. This could either be with the remote control or the main unit. We suggest that you try to isolate the problem to either remote or main unit by turning your set on in the same way that it was when it started giving the problem, and then remove the batteries from the remote. If the problem ceases then the remote would need service, if not then the main unit seems to have a problem. After identifying problem please call our customer service for further support, please make sure you have proof of purchase, model and serial number when you call. You can reach us at number below. Please note that the warranty period is for 12 months. Best regards, LG I don't understand the reply, Why take the batteries out?
The more you know the more you know that you don't know
