  1. I’m having a problem converting some .wmv files to dvd, these are all legal files that I own the right to (they are of me teaching, its for my masters degree program). The person that started to work on them (was in my group but dropped out), encoded them into wmv files. I think he used windows moviemaker, but I am not sure. I have tried multiple programs to convert wmv to dvd/divx/xvid/mov but they all seem to have audio sync problems, or stop in mid conversion. I thought it was the original encoding problem so I have tried to re-encode them with windows media encoder. Either it stops and does not continue, or errors out. I have about 125 hours of tape to edit then convert for my capstone project so I can graduate.

    *The original wmv’s play fine

Here is a list of programs that I have used. Windows Media Encoder, Win AVI Video Converter, River Past Video Cleaner, Convert X to DVD, Super DVD Creator, WinDVD Creator, Nero Vision, Dr. DivX, TMPGEnc, RAD Video, Vegas 4, plus almost anything I could find online.

    Thanks for any help

    Nothing works?
Sounds like the ap he used to make wmv's may have added something funky.
How about saving as an avi in windows movie maker...then converting?

Asfbin has some pretty nice features to repair and reindex WMV files. Check it out and see if it helps.

It'll help a lot if you drop one of your files onto Gspot or Mediainfo so we can see the specs. I'm pretty sure we can make it work out positively.
