I have just purchased a new Core2 PC (tech built, not commercial). It has a new Lite On DVD burner.
The DVD burner seemed to work fine the first couple of days, but now, no matter what DVD burning software I use (Nero, DVDFab, or ImgBurn), it takes FOREVER to burn a dvd that took only minutes before. The latest was 44 minutes.
I've tried burning from VOBs and also from ISO files, same problem with length of burning, and it also seems to take a LOT Of my computer resources.
Burning the same VOBs on my old computer takes less than 10 minutes.
Burning Data DVDs are as fast as previously.
Has anyone come onto a problem with DVD burning?

Check to make sure your IDE channels are still set to DMA mode.

I had a similar prob once with Trend scanning during burning... if nothing else works, try being offline & turning off your AV during the burning

If you aren't sure how to check PIO/DMA mode:
To check DMA/PIO mode within Windows:
Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
From there, right click on one of the channels and choose 'Properties>Advanced Settings'. All drives should be DMA mode. The 'Current Transfer Mode' for Hard drives is usually DMA 4-6 and DVD burners DMA 2-4, DVD ROMs usually DMA 2. If you see any in PIO mode, that can slow things down.
Changing them back may be easy or complicated. First see if you can change them in that window. If not, I usually uninstall the channel the drive is on and let the OS reinstall it. This will usually take a reboot. This will not damage any files on the computer.
From there, if no luck, get back to us.
