Left-click drag drop from Start/Programs to your desktop.
    Assuming you're using XP.

The shortcuts open with the app you have associated with the file type. I guess you have some Internet shortcuts you want to open with AOL, some wit IE? Besides right-clicking, and select "Open with..." I don't think there's any way to do that.

Create new shortcut, then put in where it wants the path / filename.

    iexplore http://suddenlink.net

    I also keep this...

    iexplore about:blank

on my desktop when I don't want to load my tabs / home pages, gets me where I'm going quicker.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

I don't think there's any way to have certain links open with one browser app, and other with another browser app. They all open in one or the other. Which one, is determined system default browser.
