my videos, no matter what program I'm using, and it makes no sense, my computer can run 3d a lot of 3d games without lag, but not videos...(in case your wondering, some of the games include: halo guild wars, wow, etc.). I have reformatted with this problem, and it's still exactly like it was. this is a real inconvenience. help is appreciated.

  2. Good 3D performance doesn't guarantee good 2D performance.

Choppy video playback can be due to a variety of reasons:

    1. You haven't got DirectDraw accelerations enabled (unlikely unless you deliberately changed this)
    2. You are trying to play the videos from the same drive that your OS is installed on and/or the drive is slow
    3. The OS is deliberately dropping frames to ensure that the audio is not choppy. This is default Windows behavior. Does the audio sound okay? If so, *temporarily* disable your sound card in Control Panel and play the video(s) again. If playback is smooth, it suggests your computer just doesn't have enough performance to render the video and audio. Are you playing the video full screen? What happens at lower screen resolutions?

Note, the audio issue can be especially true if you have a recent PC that has "integrated audio" rather than a sound card. Integrated audio makes heavy use of the CPU to do things like surround sound, bass/treble adjustment. If you do have integrated audio, turn off any "special features" like the graphic equalizer to reduce demand on the CPU.

Failing all the above, please specify what kinds of videos you have (e.g., HD DVD, DV etc)

umm look at my comp details... i would think that would be able to run both fine, and yes it's integrated, but with my specs, do u rilly think thats the problem, since only the video is choppy and nothing else slows down. and yes i have tried diff resolutions.
