    Hi,

I'm downloading mpeg 2 files (.mpg) from www.archive.org and intend saving them as dvd's. I have iDVD and DVD Studio Pro, but they are geared up for .m2v files etc.

I can convert the .mpg files to lossless quicktimes and then jump through hoops to re-encode to .m2v files, but surely there is a simple means of converting a .mpg (mpeg 2 though) to a format that's acceptable without re-encoding?

If needs be I can use a PC for the process.

    Any pointers?

btw: there are some lovely pieces of film on that archive.org site (various formats)

    thanks.

You may be able to demultiplex your MPEG-2 downloads from archive.org by using bbDEMUX. It's available for Mac OS X.

    Ta for that.

Demuxed a movie to create a new .mpg movie (I'd assumed it would create a .m2v file)

but when I import it as an asset in dvdstudiopro it throws a 'wrong width' error.

    Any ideas?
