    Cannot import avi video files from camcorder or hard drive to either WMM ( files corrupted or unreadable) or Ulead Videostudio SE (Catastrophic failure). Video will play perfectly on Windows Media player from hard drive and TV from Camcorder. Different camcorder used with same results. Any suggestions?

    Sometimes it could be the AVI file itself, not what's in it.

    Try re-muxing it with an application like AviMux GUI. Try different settings.
    I hate VHS. I always did.

    what kind of avi ?

    if it's dv-avi it might be a type1 vs type2 issue

    use gspot for more info
