I have a Magnavox MWR 20V6 VCR/DVD Recorder. I am new to it but have started to dump a few of my old videos to dvd (have to many videos). The instruction book does not say this, so hopefully someone can inform me.

    - How long does a dvd-r record for while dubbing, as as the video or just 2 hrs?
    - Is there a way of dvd recording from the vcr without dubbing, I want to pause the dvd recording and changes video tapes. Though my cable is hooked into the vcr/dvd recorder. Does this or does it not make a difference or what can I do.

You should have a speed/time setting for your recordings. The default "normal" setting is usually 2 hours. You should be able to increase/decrease the speed setting as need. The longer the recording time, the lower the quality. However, since the source is VHS, you should be able to get more than 2 hours without losing much if any quality.

As for your second question, I'm not sure what you are wanting to do. Any burning from the VCR source is dubbing, I don't know whether it will let you pause it or not.

Get a DVD-RW disc or two and experiment. That is the best way to learn and you won't be out any discs.
