Way OffTopic but consider helping! with Unison!

sorry for the off tomic request. I use Unison with a MacPro 10.4.7 Unison 1.7.7 and its stopped working for me

it doesn't load properly and I have to force quit as it does not respond.

in the past I just dumped the app and reloaded a new version from a disk image I downloaded and then opened that it it would work

no llonger

any ideas? why would (before) a new app work and the old onw would not? how can it get corrupted?

Try trashing the app's ".plist" file from ~/Library/Preferences

tried that and no go

found out there was a newer version and the 177 had issues with the intel macs

OLD IT MAY BE, but it still works.....!
hadn't tried it on Intel Macs, but on PPC 10.4.8,
it works fine...

What's your news server? If it's through your ISP they might be having troubles with it - but if it's Giganews or a another dedicated service it might not be the server. Also does Thoth or MT-NewsWatcher work (if they don't than it's most likely the server). Panic has great support so if you email them the transcripts and any crash logs they should be able to help if it's a problem with their app.

thanks for these tips. I updated to the latest Unison 1.7.9 and that seems to be working fine. there may have been issues with earlier versions and IntelMacs.

I had been using Thoth and really like it. however I found out about Thoth after it 'went out of buisness' and could not purchase it. so I had to use stealth etc every month and some features would not work.

its su8perior to Unison for various reasons, mostly Unison must download all the headers before you can search etc

Id hoped that THoth sould re-emerge but the author has some problems with pirated copies
