ok im using avid xpress pro put i cant capture anything not even audio and im using a plextor convertx digital video converter http://plextor.com/english/products/ConvertX-AV100U.htm thru usb 2.0 i dont think i have firewire i know i only have 256mb of ram and avid xpress requires 1gb of ram but it runs perfect alittle slow but it still runs but i have the processor speed 2.5ghz and i can capture fine using movie maker intervideo dvd creater movie edit pro but i cant seem to capture anything with these high tech editing softwares sony vegas edius and avid xpress can someone pahlease tell me wats wrong maybe im retarded idk but i need a clear answer.

Avid is very particular about the hardware it supports or will even run on. Check out the Avid site for a list of supported kit. I suspect it doesn't like your device because it captures and encodes to mpeg-2, which is not designed for editing, and which neither Avid or Vegas particularly like to work with. If you were capturing to a more edit friendly format, such as DV or a lossless format, you would have less issues.

ok thats cool im proly goin to buy a camcorder today alls i want avid for is to edit shit with so i just capture with movie edit pro yall need to check dis program out it captures great if u have it on the right setting and ya thnx for the advice gun peace
