    Hello.
I have a bunch of movies on my hard drive, stored at .vobs in different folders.
I've looked for an application that will let me create a playlist and play the movies but I have not seen anything.
    Any ideas?

Something like a mediamonkey but with .vob files?

You 'might' be able to do that with VLC Media Player. And that would be my first choice. To make them easier to play with other players, you could convert them to MPEG. From a DVD or a DVD rip, I would try VOB2MPG. That will give you a large MPEG from all the VOBs on a DVD. There should be no quality loss for the conversion.

Quick and dirty, which usually works , is to rename them from .vob to .mpeg. That could mess up the the subs and the alternate audio tracks, but it's the easy way for acceptance with more players. But a VOB is a lot more than a MPEG. It can have several subtitles, alternate languages and some formating information within the container.

I rarely use VOBs outside of the VIDEO_TS folder. If I need to, I convert them to MPEG if I need to edit or convert them to other formats.

VOBs are part of the DVD format. For the DVD format and specifications, see 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left on this page.

    And welcome to our forums.

    Thanks!

I was hoping to avoid conversions / renaming, etc. VLC is the best I've found because you can simply add the folders to the playlist. It would be perfect if I could add a few tags like i can for my music files.
