im after some help encoding an mpeg2video file in MeGUI i understand most of the basics from reading this guide :
http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/MeGUI_H.264_Conversion_Guide_page1.html
However it concentrates on dvd to H.264 not mpeg2 to H.264, has anyone else got any guides on this? i just need to fill the gaps that that guide didnt cover

Hi,
You basically do it the same way as you do a DVD file, use the d2v creator to make a d2v file from your MPEG-2 source file, use the avisynth script creator make a script do your cropping etc. and import it into the encoder and away you go! -
ok MeGUI wasnt installed correctly, its working now however i dont get sound, when it asks me if i want to demux the sound i didnt think i had too because the source file is mpeg2video? that guide said in the avisynth script creator, in edit to change "audio=false" to "audio=true" but "audio=false" isnt in the line to be able to change it??? What am i doing wrong???

Hi Again,
MeGUI is a top-drawer program, but it ain't exactly easy to get started with, here's a few hints:
1. Put all of your applications that MeGUI runs except AviSynth in the MeGUI folder, in the Tools->Settings make sure the paths to the programs are all set correctly, make sure your Avisynth plug-ins are all in the Avisynth plug-ins folder
2. Run the updates regularly, MeGUI and x264 in particular are being improved and updated continuously.
3. Make Audio and Video profiles by configuring the encoders you are using or importing profiles like Sharktooths, there are many preset profiles at the x264 website
4. MeGUI works best by having the Audio and Video files demuxed and separate, you shouldn't have any audio in your avisynth script if your source is d2v. In the d2v creator settings use "Demux all tracks" and then import the demuxed audio into the audio encoder.
5. If you experience A/V Sync issues sometimes (not always) entering the delay value of your demuxed Audio file (the d2v creator will create an audio filename containing the delay value) into the audio encoder will fix them.
Hope this helps, stick with it if you can, with Avisynth and MeGUI you can get absolutely phenomenal results. If you need more help post again. -
thanks for your help, i checked the settings/program paths and the problem is im missing avimux_gui.exe and neroAacEnc.exe, where can i download them?

Hi,
http://www.nero.com/nerodigital/eng/Nero_Digital_Audio.html
There's Nero, Updating Megui should get avimux for you, If not Google it, or look at Doom9, You really should be muxing H.264 into an mp4 container using mp4Box instead of an AVI container with Avimux, If you want to use these files with an iPod then you'll need Nicmp4Box find it here:

thanks for all your help, worked great, i used IP-GoodQuality profile, is that the best for good quality with smallest file size?? any recommendations? thanks again
