  1. Looking at buying a good dvd recorder/vcr combo. Currently saw a PANASONIC DMR-ES45VS DVD VCR COMBO on ebay. However, I've also heard of "upconverting" that I thought sounded good. I didn't see it for the Panasonic but was wondering if there's a pretty good but decent priced combo that:
    DVD recorder
    VCR
    Upconvert
    Decent sound quality

    In addition....

I'm not savy yet, but does any combo have an output that could possible run to my mac in case I want to edit something? I thought I could Transfer my home movies to dvd, then edit on mac or if there is a way, somehow run vhs to mac to be burnt anyway. Thanks in advance to any of you guru's out there.

  2. The ES45V can do upconvert but Cnet reviews did not have a very good opinion of its quality.

The bad: Subpar HDMI upscaling video quality
A combo or recorder that can produce a dvd-video mode or VR mode disk can be edited on almost any computer platform with the right software.
