I downloaded the movie in .avi format and converted it to dvd format using ConvertXtoDVD...

Everything goes fine, the burn process as well...

When I play the movie in my DVD player, it will play fine for like 5 minutes, and then it will freeze up about every minute for a few seconds and then continue to play....it does that throughout the whole movie....

anyone know what my problem could be?

My first guess would be a problem with your DVD media. Have you had any problems with other DVD files burned with it and played back in your DVD player?

Or it might be the original AVI file, though ConvertX should have warned you if there was a problem. You might check the original with Gspot 2.60 for MP3 VBR audio. ConvertX usually handles that, but some versions of the format may cause problems.

Have you had problems with any other AVI files that ConvertX has converted to DVD?

    And welcome to our forums.

I have only started downloading .avi files recently......

I used to download as VCD and then convert to DVD and I never had any problems doing that...

however i no longer have access to vcd and the place where i get my movies is loaded with everything but in .avi format.....

Well, that speaks against the media theory, if you use the same media.
But: Then I suggest buying a DivX/XviD AVI capable player. Lets you simply burn the AVI as data to CD-R or DVD-R. Can be had for the same $ you spent on convertx2dvd.
