Hi, I have a LITEON LVW-5005 I bought 50 RITEK-GO4 4X DVD-R & 1 in 6 of them end up as coasters, some of them will not read at all & others will have WRITE FAIL. They vary in time when recording from around 15 mins. to 1 hour 30 mins. before they become coasters. Can anyone recommend any reliable DVD-R brand that's worked on their LITEON LVW-5005. I was thinking of buying DATAWRITE YELLOW 8X DVD-R MEDIA CODE-TTGO2 anybody tried these? are they any good? Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

I believe TTG02 are TDK disks. I've heard both pros and cons about TDK disks. Can't go wrong with Taiyo Yuden disks (RIMA, Supermedia store)... if you looking to pick up some disks at a big box I would look for Made in Japan from Fuji, Maxell, Sony to name a few .

Also check out http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/index.htm for up to date information about media.

Coincidentally, a couple minutes ago I happened to be looking at this page
    http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=2310
which looks to have a pretty decent rundown matching up burners + different media. (I don't know exactly which burner that Liteon DVR uses, but some Liteon model would be a safe guess . . . . )
btw, I haven't seen even a 50-spindle of MIJs from the brands you mentioned in ages -- so I'm skeptical we will see any of them again. It almost doesn't matter what product we're talking about: everyone seems to be chasing the bottom. Quality doesn't seem to matter anymore.

Thanks DR. DOS & SEEKER47 for your help I'ts really difficult finding a good reliable DVD-R to record with I'ts annoying when half way through your favourite programme write failure pops up. Love the picture quality of the DVD but for reliability VCR wins hands down. especially when you can record any make of Video cassette where only certain DVD discs work. I think I'll give the Taiyo Yuden a try.
