    Capture device is VCR and format is automatically assigned to MPEG. I have been successful 3 times with about 7 or 8 being rejected. I suppose the original quality of the analog tape could be causing the problem but the video is successfully captured and stored on my hard drive, I just cannot burn the file to DVD.

    Thats not a capture device ... the piece of hardware the the vcr connects to in order for the pc to capture ?

    Q: You had some success prior to the incident , then error .

    Are these tape's commercial or home recorded ... (macrovision issue) .

    From one previous post :

    Have you tried the capture , then save the clip as is , not as a sony project , shut down the sony product , then reopen it and try loading the clip .

    Problem could also appear if audio capture for mpeg has changed in frequency during recording phase ... that is , the error appear's only after audio setup change's had taken place prior to the next recorded setion .

    =========

    I am not sure if this might work , but you could open the clip's in virtualmod , and save the audio out as wav , to be imported into sony .
    Even visualsubsync can pull the audio , if virtualmod has issue's .

    The mpeg stream , you might try bbdemux (command line tool) : http://members.cox.net/beyeler/bbmpeg.html
    It can do both mpeg1 / mpeg2 ... separate the video and audio stream's ... then use those in sony .
