I can see the point if you're on a long trip with a few people or kids, my brother who has kids tells me this is gods greatest gift to man... Besides that it would be useless to me except the radio of course.

My dell laptop dose it all ... it's even got 4 camera's ... you never know when some idiot is going to back into you when your shopping , and they drive off leaving damage .

But for those in the back , they have to share the sony dvp-fx810 , came with everything I needed , and the car adapter .

The only issue is finding a way of mounting it to minimize the vehicle's shudder when driving on secondary roads here ... the cd player is drivin me nutt's ...

I voted originally for the force ... it's the only thing stopping me from give other driver's the evil eye and the old persuasive finger if needed to get them to wriggle on and get out of the way ... it tell's me to count to ten and all will be well once more ... and the lucky eight ball tell's me to go , in what direction , and when ... them speed bumps give it hell though ... where the heck did that shopping trolley come from ... I dont remember that turn at all

I don't see the point as I am single and can't play a video game or watch a DVD while I'm driving.

  6. Got the factory DVD system in the minivan. It's really great for the kids on long trips... definitely worth it.

When we go on a long trip we take along the 13" TV, the PS2, and a power inverter. The TV is a TV/VCR combo, so we can do VHS or DVD. Set the TV on the cooler and bungee it down. Sits behind the driver and the kids sit in the back seat of the mini van. (I voted for "Sort of..." as it was the closest to my situation.)

  8. No, I find the goings-on *outside* the car entertaining - you get all genres: comedy, drama, mystery, horror....

Im the only one in the car, so its not much good, but being a sales rep and having a tracker fitted to the car I somtimes have to sit longer so I use my Smarphone, usually with a Depeche mode tour or a DVD ive backed up to watch, but I did get this Scandisk V-Mate that you plug into a video source, and it records TV direct to a SD card, so I can record TV progs and just watch them on my phone.

I've had an audio cassette stuck in the player for about 3 years. Need to fix it someday. Radio is adequate

I voted for the Force. Every year since 2000 my wife, kids and I haul our trailer across a few states for a multiweek vacation (without any video device of any sort). Without the Force, we all would have killed each other by now.

no, i don't have kids and I prefer to drive in my car
I also prefer to watch movies on large screens that I don't have to squint at.

I used to - I just got rid of my 2003 Mountaineer which had one in it. It came in handy on a couple of long trips I took with my family.

Without any disrespect to the mighty yoda, i think it's one of the most f*****g terrible ideas of the modern age. particularly the ones that pop out of the centre console. this suggests you want to active spend time sat in your car watching films. what, do you live in it? do you watch the movie whilst driving instead of the road? what? it makes as much sense to me as TomTom claiming that their bigger screen allows you to see more of the road ahead. No it doesnt, it obscures more of the road ahead. what's most useful for a satnav is appropriate, loud, clear voice commands. eyes on the road, lest a small child runs out!

my car is a thing used for going places. get in, travel, get out, do stuff. to that end it has a tape player for duller solo journeys or tense group ones, but that's as far as I'll take it. i can see they potentially have some use slung over the headrests for restless chilluns, but i fear they'll only be sick, much as me & my bro were always warned off reading or playing overly complex magnetic boardgames in the back of the car as it would be conducive to carsickness. better to play i-spy out of the window, etc, or play an audio storybook.
with adults in the car, the conversation - i've found - can happily sustain itself for the 2-3 hours that your legs and back end (and fuel tank/bladder) can withstand as the longest no-stop distance without needing such toys.

sorry for yet another rant, but some things of the modern world just make me shake my head and feel sad. someone had to design and build that thing and have it approved for it to exist, after all. how could it all have gone wrong (whilst going so 'right') in so many consecutive places?

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!
