I recently bought a DVD from a guy who sells "underground"/foreign/unreleased stuff. The disc plays fine in standalone players but won't play on my PC. I'll start playing it and the screen will freeze. It stays hung for about 15 seconds and then jumps ahead about a minute, plays for a second, and then freezes again. This just repeats. I presume it's copy protection of some kind. Anyone have an idea?

Sounds more like that it's crappy dvd media.
Tried different sofware dvd players? like the free vlc media player.
Try copy the video_ts folder to your hd and see if you get any reading errors.
