My JVC-SVHS HR-S8700 has started putting lines on tapes, cleaning does not help and ive checked the tapes and its not them. I have about 50 VHS tapes left to dub to DVD on my Panasonic EX-75. My repair guy said my JVC is not worth fixing.

Looking around there is not a lot to choose from I would get a Panasonic but can’t find any anywhere, SVHS playback would be nice but I could manage without if I have to, there is something called Quasi SVHS playback too which is an option, not sure if its any good though?

Are the new Panasonics any good, main thing I want is picture quality, not too bothered about reliability as once ive dubbed my tapes it is going to get little use.

Anyone know where I could get a new Panasonic from? as not keen on used i.e. ebay

Are current Sony machines any good for VHS as I’ve seen a few of those?

Advice appreciated as I plan to pick up a machine in the next day or so as I want to get on with my copying, can't wait to clear some space and get rid of VHS

  2. Nothing matches the jvc vcr's with TBC/DNR, like the one you have, how much to get it fixed?>,,go to a diffferent repair shop.

I have bought 3 uk jvc vcr's from ebay and they are all superb, be patient and they do turn up on ebay, load a search in ebay so you will be emailed if one turns up.
