    Hey,
Just found this site and wanted to say hello. I think this is a very cool site, and although I understand only about have of what you're talking about, I can feel my comprehension growing as I read on.
I have been producing local/regional TV programs (2) for 9 years. They are of the outdoor variety (one's a cooking/fishing show). I shoot with a Cannon XL 1 and a cheap Sony digital HandyCam. I edit DVREX RT and to be frank, could never figure out Primier.
My video outlets require copies of the shows on Sony Beta Cam SP, MDV and lately DVD. I found out about y'all when I started searching for help converting my AVI show to DVD and ran into video size problems. I'm making progress....but that's a conversation for another time.
I really just wanted to say hi, and invite you to check out my website and view the programs I have loaded onto Google video. I'm at www.greatdayoutdoors.com. I'd love you to visit. I'm the guy on the left. Please offer advice to improve what you see. I can take it. It would be good to talk with you. Take care. Mopsy (that's my hunting dog's name).

    Hi Mopsy,

    Welcome to the forums.

The URL you supplied doesn't work...

The link doesn't work because the trailing period (.) was included as part of the link. Probably not his fault. Try this one instead

    Welcome!

There is a wealth of information here and it's sometimes a bit daunting to new members, so please be patient. You'll find the buttons on the upper left are quite handy, and the search functions are extremely useful.

    Good Luck!

    Hi,
Thanks for jumping on. Sry about the link. I'll supply another. I live in Reading, PA, home of the Reading Railroad, like from the Monopoly Game. If you have a moment, please check out my downloads to Google video on my website, and tell me what type of downloads will produce the best results. I should mention that my video editing computer is not hooked up to the internet, so I have to copy everything and transfer it to another.
    Anyway, here's the link again.

I've built a few sites and some with video, I prefer having everything on the local site than using an offsite service like Google. Haven't used Google much but from my understanding no matter what you upload they convert it to whatever specs/format they use. Most likely uploading the highest quality video they will allow will produce the best result. Perhaps someone else with more experience with Google will have some better advice...

Having said that why not just host them your self? Use WME to convert, from there you only have to upload to your server and provide a link, the file will open automatically by default on nearly every machine, if you want to get fancy you can add a few lines of code to you html to embed it in the page. Unless you are getting a tremendous amount of traffic even basic hosting plans offer enough resources for doing it yourself. WME will produce very small files at a very high quality and they are compatible with nearly every windows machine, 7min22sec , 27MB's:

More greetings from just south of Pittsburgh, PA... from a fellow fisherman, hunter and all around outdoor enthusiast. I can't wait to learn more about your website. I've been learning here for about 5 years, but this is only my 3rd posting. So many of my questions get answered in the forums.

You are so right about that. The advice on this forum has been excellent. BTW, I am involved with a new outdoor website, launching Feb. 1, that expects to be the largest site exclusively for Penn. outdoors pursuits. Its www.pasportsmenportal.com You might check it out when you get a chance. I'm will be moderating most of the fishing forums.
Right now I am working on a one hour public service TV show for the Eastern Chapter of FNAWS, the Foundation for North American Wild Sheep. I have two weeks left before deadline. Although I have produced nearly 300 half-hour shows, this one-hour project is a monster. Because of this show, I am delving into lots of video production mysteries, and this forum has helped me wade through the thickest muck. Thanks for the note.
    Stay in touch.

  20. My obsessions are cartoons and live music videos.... oh, and stuff not yet on DVD. So I spend a lot of time digging up and converting laserdiscs and PAL VHS tapes.

BTW, if you already understand half of what is on this site, then you are in great shape! Six years later, I am still learning that I don't know shit.

Try one-tenth. It's amazing I have gotten as far as I have. But I am very interested in the future of internet video. What do you do with stuff you record?
