If you want a dvd-video use ConvertXtoDVD.

How are you intending to play these files.
Do you have a stand alone DVD player.
    What model is it.
Does it play DivX files or simply DVD and (S)vcd.

More information please, then we can advise.
    Don't worry.......we'll be alright...

Try this link to convert AVI to DivX

    https://www.videohelp.com/avi2divx.htm

These can be burned on CD-r or add many together on one DVD-r

OR as Baldrick says - throw them into ConvertXtoDVD and just make full DVD versions
    Don't worry.......we'll be alright...

    Then say that directly...

It could already be a xvid or divx but in a mp4 container then can you try use mp4cam2avi.

Post one of your mp4 files to a shared hosting site like www.bestsharing.com
