    HI,

    Just moved cross country.
DVD player HAD no problems before.Maybe 2 years old. NOW she stops mid way thru, locks up. Been reading on line about regions and such, tried to unlock regional coding. NOW no sound.
I doubled checked mute keys on DVD and TV.

This is a stand alone CyberHome 300 unit.

I am really lost. Would appericate help.

Regions are assigned to parts of the world and are not the problem in your case...at least not the original problem.

Now that you have applied a hack to your firmware and voided the warranty, you are pretty left with replacing the player. It is possible the hack has somehow corrupted the firmware and is the cause of the no sound problem.

You should check the dvd player setup menu to ensure all of the settings, especially in the audio tab, are set correctly.

  4. I had the exact same problems with my 300. It's a sign that the power supply is failing. Before it blew completely, I got away with unlugging the unit when not in use. I got a few more months out of it. These particular players definitely had poor power supplies when they were manufactured.

If you really want to keep the player, there's someone out there who can repair the power supply for only $15.
